Eggplant "Little Sailor"
Aubergine "Little Sailor".
An original striped delicacy with sweet, creamy flesh!
This early (mid-early) variety produces beautiful oval fruits with a unique coloration: bright purple-pink stripes and streaks stand out against a white background (like a sailor's shirt).
Characteristics:
* Maturity: Early.
* Color and Shape: Oval fruits, variegated (white with pink-purple stripes). Fruit size is 10-15 cm.
* Texture and Taste: The flesh is snow-white and dense, yet possesses a very tender creamy texture. The taste is sweet, completely without bitterness.
* Plant Height: 80-100 cm.
HISTORICAL REFERENCE:
This popular variety originated in Russia.
Cultivation Advice (Agrotechnics):
In many ways, growing eggplants is similar to caring for tomatoes, but there are important differences. Due to the high vulnerability of the root system, the plant does not tolerate transplanting well. Therefore, it is highly recommended to sow seeds directly into individual peat pots and skip pricking out (potting on).
Seeds germinate in 10-15 days. Seedlings reach the required size for planting out in 40-45 days.
Temperature regime: Until the seeds germinate, the room temperature should be maintained between +22..+26°C. Immediately after the sprouts appear, it must be lowered to +13..+16°C for 5-6 days. This crucial step prevents the seedlings from stretching and makes the roots stronger. Afterwards, the temperature is raised back to +20..+25°C and maintained until planting outdoors.
Feeding: Apply 3 to 5 feedings per season. The first feeding is required 2 weeks after planting the seedlings in the ground.
